Twenty-seven projects from across Aotearoa, along with two overseas projects, have been shortlisted for this year’s Interior Awards, amongst them tranquil, engaging workplaces, heritage renovations, vibrant, playful kitchens and much more.

Entries showcase excellence in interior design and architectural interiors across ten categories, including a new multi-housing category. The emerging design professional category is the one to watch for up-and-coming designers.

Interior editor of Architecture NZ and convenor of the jury Amanda Harkness said this year saw a record number of residential house and kitchen entries to the programme, perhaps because of more time being spent at home during Covid-induced lockdown periods. “The calibre of entries in these two categories was so high it proved a challenge for the jury to choose just three finalists, so four have been selected in both categories,” Harkness explains.

“The jury was also presented with a number of hugely talented emerging design professionals from practices throughout the country and it was a difficult job to narrow these to three finalists,” Harkness continued.

The 32 finalists will present live to the judging panel on 18 and 19 May at Objectspace in Auckland, which will also be live-streamed and available to watch here on ArchitectureNow.

Winners will be announced at the Interior Awards event on Thursday 14 July 2022 at St Matthew-in-the-City in Auckland. Tickets go on sale Wednesday 1 June and will be available to purchase from interiorawards.co.nz.
